A residency built around supervision
Seasons runs a structured, supportive residency designed to develop excellent clinicians while protecting both client care and clinician wellbeing. Supervision is included, the caseload grows with demonstrated competency, and the expected path to licensure is about 24 months.
What is included
- Individual and group supervision, included. Seasons does not charge residents for supervision; arranged privately, supervision across a residency can cost up to roughly $30,000 depending on rates and structure.
- W-2 employment.
- A reliable client pipeline through a dedicated intake team, so residents build a caseload without marketing themselves.
- Practical clinical experience across ages and concerns in an outpatient practice.
- Guidance on professional boundaries, documentation, and ethical decision-making.
Tracks
Seasons supervises two tracks and keeps them distinct, because supervision availability and eligibility differ: Resident in Counseling, toward LPC licensure with the Virginia Board of Counseling, and Supervisee in Social Work, toward LCSW licensure with the Virginia Board of Social Work.
Seasons does not currently offer an LMFT residency track, because we cannot guarantee the couples and family hours or the complete supervision path that track requires. Internships are a future phase rather than part of the current residency offer; students are still welcome to apply, and we keep qualified applicants in mind for when placements open.
What Virginia requires, and how long it takes
Virginia residency requires 3,400 total hours, including 2,000 hours of direct client contact and 200 hours of supervision. At least 100 of the supervision hours must be individual; up to 100 may be group. The requirements are set by the Virginia boards, so confirm the current details for your track with your board.
At the caseload described below, residents at Seasons should expect to complete those hours in approximately 24 months. We do not promise a faster timeline: client care and clinician readiness take priority over accelerating licensure.
How your caseload grows
Residents build their caseload gradually, generally adding about five clients per week, with a target of reaching full capacity around eight weeks in when clinical progress supports it.
After ramp-up, the expectation is approximately 25 completed client sessions per week.
Pay and benefits
Residents are W-2 employees of Seasons. Compensation and benefit details, including eligibility, are discussed during the interview process.
